Based in Bangkok, Thailand, I produce, film and edit short and long video packages, features and docs for broadcast television or online. I also write about the region, both in German and English. Please contact me here.

My workhorse is the Sony FS5. Here is my current setup as a traveling videojournalist:

(JMSC Instagram Takeover: Lukas Messmer @lukasmessmer) Roy (@3r.roy), this one is for you. Let's talk gear quickly. This is a small but versatile set I've put together over the last two years. Cameras: FS5/A6500. Lenses: Sigma 24-105, Canon 70-200, Samyang 50mm, Sony 35mm, Sony 10-18mm, Sony 18-105mm. I use the Sennheiser AVX wireless set. Tripod is Manfrotto legs with Sachtler FSB6T head. Two small SWIT lights. SWIT batteries, because they have a USB port you can charge stuff with. Camera etc. all fits in a ThinkTank backpack, which is exactly the maximum size for hand luggage. When I fly, I check in the tripod and another bag with lights. With this, I can do most jobs as a video journalist. If I shoot with another cameraman, I use the A6500 for second camera/pictures. Going to add a Mavic Pro soon. . . #instagramtakeover #instagram #journalism #media #gearhead #gear #camera #lens #mylifeinabackpack #journalist #videojournalist
